About Bunnies

I liked it when we went to see the bunny at Daddy's friend's house at Easter time.  He was pretty cute and so soft.

Remember when you made him jump?

I have been taking walks in my neighborhood early in the morning.  There are some bunnies that live around the corner and like to hop around at that time of the day. I have seen black and white ones, and brown ones and black ones.  Every morning I would see them and think, "I should take a picture of these bunnies for Shad.",  but I kept forgetting to take my camera.
One morning I remembered my camera, but no bunnies.  The next day I took my camera, no bunnies.  Every time I take my camera, the bunnies hide, and every time I forget my camera there they are hopping around.  Silly bunnies.

Today I took my walk at the Desert Botanical Garden instead of in my neighborhood.  Guess what the first thing I saw when I walked into the garden was?

It was a bunny!

It was so tiny, really cute and didn't hide when it saw I had my camera.

I saw lots and lots of bunnies at the garden today.  Big ones and little ones all hopping around and playing together.

Grandpa says he thinks this bunny is a baby jack rabbit because it has big ears, but it had a little white bottom so I think it is a cottontail bunny just like Peter Cottontail in your Easter book.

Do you still remember the song?  I sure liked listening to you sing it.

How did your ear test go?

How Does Your Zucchini Grow?

Dear Shad,

It was fun planting zucchini plants with you when I was at your house.

How are your plants doing?  Did they grow bigger while you were at the hospital?

My zucchini plant is definitely getting bigger.  This is what it looked like today.

Some of the leaves are as big as my hand, and that is VERY BIG!

My other squash plant is getting bigger too.  It has "flying saucer" squash growing on it now.

Pretty soon I will pick them and cook them and eat them.  YUM!

Are you going to try zucchini when it grows on your plant? I hope so!

Love,
Grandma

P.S.  I'm glad you're back home again.

Doctor Visits

Dear Shad,

Look at this picture and guess where I went today?

Yup.  I got to go to the doctor.  I didn't get to sit on the table though, just in a chair.  It was a fun visit to the doctor.  I didn't have to get any pokes.  This appointment was just to tell me what they saw in my blood the last time they took it out.  She said every thing she saw in my blood work was GREAT!  All my sick numbers are getting lower and lower, just like yours!  HOORAY!

I walked to my doctor's office because it is such a pretty day at my house.  I walked past this bunch of flowers

and it made me think of taking walks with you.

I wish I lived closer to you so that we could go for walks together all the time

Jayce went to the doctor today too.  He has a bad pain in his side.  It was not a fun doctor's visit for Jayce.  He got LOTS of pokes.  Some in both arms and a GREAT, BIG SHOT in his bottom. Ouch!

The doctor says he has an infection, but he doesn't know what kind. Jayce has to go and have a CT scan test in a little while and he can't have anything to eat until after the test is finished. You know how that feels, huh?

Can you say a prayer that Jayce will feel better.  Lots of people have said prayers for you and I know it helps.

I hope you are having a good day at the hospital.  What have you been doing fun?

Love you,
Grandma

Thanks!

Dear Shad,

Thanks for having your mom send me the picture of you and Dara the dog.

She is very cute.  I think maybe I have seen her before.

I am glad that you get to do fun things while you are at the hospital.  What are you and giraffe going to do fun today?  Send me a picture of something fun you do, ok?

Yesterday I went to the cannery and helped make raspberry jam.  I got to wear a funny hairnet and blue gloves.  I looked kind of silly.

One of the other ladies and I had fun making up songs about what we were doing and counting to six over and over again as we put the jam into boxes.  I am as good at counting to six now as you are.

Then Uncle Jayce came to my house and helped me plant some tomato plants.  First he had to mix all the new dirt in with the old dirt

and then he dug holes and we put the tomato plants into the holes.

Right now the plants are just little and don't look like much,

but hopefully in lots and lots of night-nights they will have yummy tomatoes on them.  Maybe you will even get to eat some of them!

We planted four different kinds of tomatoes - big red tomatoes, red cherry tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes and green zebra tomatoes.  I think green zebra tomatoes sound pretty funny, but a lady at the plant store was buying one and she said they are really cool and taste really good.  They are green and have stripes like a zebra.  I am excited to see them when they grow!

We also planted some peppers and a "flying saucer" squash plant.  The squash are supposed to look like little tiny space ships.

I hope you have a good day at the hospital and are all finished throwing up.

Love,
Grandma

Here We Come!

I am packing my suitcase to come to your house. I think Sparrow is going to be sad when he figures out he's not invited.
Jayce and I are excited to see you soon!

Mashed Banana

Today I was mashing some bananas at my house to make banana bread. I had the potato masher just a going up and down and

then a song popped into my head - mashed banana, mashed banana - and I was dancing around and bouncing up and down and thinking of being with you at your painting class.

I had fun helping you make your shamrock art and singing songs with you and your friends.

Finally the song stopped going around and around in my head and then I opened the fridge and

cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti.

I love you. Hope you are feeling lots better today.

Jayce

Dear grandma,

Mommy says that Jayce moved back to Arizona to live with you now.  I hope that he comes back to my new house soon.  I miss him a lot already.  Mommy says he is not coming back though.  I like it when uncle Jayce is here for lots of reasons.

He shows me new things (how to do thumbs up)

He teaches me how to do "fun" things.

He makes breakfast (and sometimes dinner) for me.

He makes me laugh.

 He brings Rodrigo to visit.

He goes places with me, mommy and daddy. (the air show and the zoo)

He helps mommy with things.

He goes for walks with me.

 He loves Baja doggy.

 He plays with me.

He snuggles with me after my bath.

He lets my play with his ipad.

Sometimes he is kind of mean to me,

But I still love him.

Can you please tell Jayce I miss him and he needs to come home.  Thank you.  Oh yeah and you should come with him because I miss you to.

Love,
     Shad

My class

Dear grandma,
Today I went to my new class.  Mommy signed me up for lots of classes so that we could get up and do something during the day.  The class today was called tot school.  First we played toys, there were a lot to choose from so I tried most of them for a few minutes.  Then, we had circle time where we got to hold beanie babies and sing some songs.  We had to say our names to our new friends.  The teacher is Ms. Lisa and there is a girl in there too.  She was nice.  After circle time we got to have a snack.  I had cheese, fruit snacks that girl shared, and apples.  It was yummy.  After snack time we got to play outside.  We played with the balls and popper toys.  Then we got to go inside and PAINT!  It was so much fun.  After we painted we had more circle time and sang our goodbye songs.  I want to go to class again.
When we were driving in the car on the way home I told mommy "I had much fun, did you have much fun?"  She said yes and we talked about all the fun things we did.  Here are some pictures of me wearing the crown that I painted.  It says my name, Shadrach.

After rest time I got to paint with the new paints "gina" gave my for Christmas.  I started off with lots of pretty colors, but by the end everything was pretty much brown.  It is a picture of mommy and she looks pretty.

I am glad that we  got to talk on the phone today.  I love you and miss you lots.
Love,
     Shad
